The Espace Vivant de la Bonneterie conducts research, conservation and enhancement of local heritage.
During a visit, discover or rediscover the ancient crafts of making socks. You will be able to discover the operation of winding machines, footwear looms. A team of volunteers will explain the different stages of production to you. Different spaces are dedicated to elastic knitting, the “Cachou” sock, past and present companies, as well as the largest sock in the world, listed in the Guinness Book. Former wax makers will also make you relive this trade of yesteryear.
The place occasionally hosts temporary exhibitions!
